I often get asked about how I came to be farm toy collector. Like many of my fellow collectors, I got my start from living on the family farm. I was born in Ft. Morgan, CO in 1981 and our farm was about 30 miles South of there, or an hour north of Limon. We farmed 6,000 acres of summer fallowed dryland wheat. My Dad grew up on the farm and worked the fields with my Grandpa.
The favorite piece of equipment we had was the 1968 Wagner WA-17 in the picture. That pic is when the tractor was pretty much brand new I think. This was the second Wagner tractor the farm had. My grandpa had previously had another WA-17 on singles. We had the only Wagner I have ever seen in person. That is why I am a big fan of Wagner tractors and have a few in my toy collection.
Unfortunately the Farm went under in the late 80's early 90's and we left the farm. Since then my dad has had jobs that keep him close to the agriculture world and by extension, me close to the toy agriculture world. We moved to Kansas where my dad is currently a truck driver for Great Plains out of Salina, KS. This is the reason for my emphasis on building Great Plains equipment.
Since finding and subscribing to Toy Tractor Times I have become a serious collector and builder. much to my wifes dismay. I attended North Park University in Chicago, which explains how we got here. I graduated with a degree in Biblical and Theological Studies and am currently attending North Park Theological Seminary where I am training to be a pastor.
Thats Me!! Feel free to ask any questions you might have.
Notes on the Pictures:
